With 6446 Surnames and variants of Surnames
This is an index of surnames that are found in the Wisbech area. The
index does not list every surname, as it is drawn from a limited source. If
you find that a particular surname or spelling variant of a surname is
missing, you are welcome to submit such a surname or variant surname by
using the the below link for a submission form.
The surnames with a number following are also found in the Wisbech Index,
the number being the instances that a particular surname appears. It is
worth while checking the Wisbech Index for these surnames, especially the
ones with question marks as the Wisbech Index shows these surnames with more
details. Those surnames that has the letters S followed by a numbers have
there sources appearing below. Currently this index has all the surnames
included in the Wisbech Index as well as additional surnames.
Sa01 These are the original surnames that were in the index, that are not
found in the current Wisbech index.
Sa01 These surnames were submited by myself just recently (May 2004)
Sb01 These surnames were submitted by site visitors. The surnames have not
been verified by myself.
Please note that this index has not been independently checked for
errors. The index is intended to be use only as a guide for your
Genealogical research.
Interestedly, the count on surnames that appear only once is 4048, or
62.8% of the total.
